Maglite is actually a brand of flashlight created in the United States by Mag Instrument, Inc. The company is headquartered in Ontario, California, and was founded in 1979 by Anthony Maglica. Maglica founded Mag Instrument in 1955 while working on a lathe with just $125 in savings.

Maglica was born in New York City during the Great Depression and was raised by his Croatian mother. When he was just a child, his mother decided to return to her homeland, but a few years later, Tony managed to go back to America.

He didn’t know English, so, he taught himself a few words and worked as an experimental machinist. However, he started to focus on his dream and worked hard to achieve it in his one-man machine shop in a Los Angeles area garage. Well, his determination and talent transformed his brand into a successful one and the rest is history!
