Katy Perry is an American singer, songwriter, and TV judge. She used to sing in church when she was young, and it didn’t take long until she started a career in gospel music as a teenager. In 2001, she signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut album called Katy Hudson, but it was commercially unsuccessful. However, she didn’t give up, so in 2007 she signed with Capitol Records. In 2008, she gained fame with her second album called One of the Boys.

Katy Perry has received numerous awards, including four Guinness World Records, five Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards, a Brit Award, and a Juno Award. According to Forbes, she’s one of the highest earning women in music from 2011 to 2019 and her estimated net worth is $125 million.

She grew up in a poor family, sometimes using food stamps and eating food from the food bank. She attended religious schools and camps, such as Paradise Valley Christian School in Arizona and Santa Barbara Christian School in California during her elementary years.
