Smoke billows following Syrian government forces’ bombardment around the village of al-Muntar on the southern edges of the rebel-held Idlib province. The latest Russian airstrikes on Syria’s last major rebel bastion were the ‘most violent’ in the month since Damascus and its ally Moscow started threatening it, a monitor said.
