So if in the past people built statues to venerate these fascinating females, these days a simple Instagram photo or a short video can turn anyone into the next big thing on social media. This is why we decided to share with you a few key tips and tricks on how to capture your cat’s beauty (or funny faces) simply flawlessly.

#1 Always be ready

This is a basic rule for human photography as well, but when it comes to cats it’s even more important! You never know when these wonderful creatures are about to do something really silly or beautiful, so make sure you always have your camera around. Also, as you find the right settings for a kitten portrait, try to save them so you don’t spend extra time on that.

#2 Get down (and dirty)

One of the most important tips and tricks he can offer is to get down to your cat’s level. Actually, if your pet is standing, it’s recommended to go even lower than its head level. This way, you can capture a much more expressive pet portrait.

#3 Ditch the flash

Most of the photos you’ll take of your cat will probably take place indoors. Regardless of how big your windows are, you may find it pretty challenging to get the perfect shot. However, by all means, do try to avoid using the flash – especially because it will reflect in your pet’s eyes and turn a pretty kitten into a night time killer.

#4 Know when it’s time to quit

Okay, this is a pretty sad tip, but it will probably boost your cat photography performance. Even though you’ve got the photo shoot planned and you’re super excited for some potentially viral car pics, your pet may just not be in the mood for it!

You can, however, try to use toys and other means of bringing your cat to life, but in the end, if your master won’t cooperate, you should just postpone the shooting for another time.
