Sistine Chapel is not called the ‘16th Chapel’

“Thought the Sistine Chapel was called the ’16th Chapel’ until I was in my early 20s. I just figured there were at least 15 other chapels that predated the famous 16th one,” said the Reddit user, Hamburbler.

The amazing Sistine Chapel is a masterpiece in the Apostolic Palace, the official residence of the pope, in Vatican City. Michelangelo also contributed to the fame of this chapel because he helped decorate it. However, this incredible chapel took its name from Pope Sixtus IV, because he restored it between 1477 and 1480.
