Many years ago I imagined the year 2020 as an SF movie. I thought that in the future we will live in a world where cars are driven by gorillas and there will be trains to space. But now, 2020 is here and my imaginary things are not going to happen soon, unfortunately. 

Nevertheless, there are a lot of interesting things that will happen this year. So, you will be surprised to find out that this year will have more than 365 days, a new royal wedding and stunning movies and TV shows that you have to see. Read on for more things!

This year will have 366 days

Some people will tell you that one year contains 365 days and this is not wrong because most of the time a year has that number of days. But, there is an exception every four years when a leap year takes place on February 29. 

According to The Farmer’s Almanac, “adding an extra day every four years keeps our calendar aligned correctly with the astronomical seasons since a year according to the Gregorian calendar (365 days) and a year according to Earth’s orbit around the Sun (approximately 365.25 days) are not the exact same length of time.”

Anyway, did you know that people who are born on 29 February celebrate their birthday only in the leap years, namely from 4 to 4 years?

NASA will send living things for the first time in the last 50 years

NASA will send a spacecraft named BioSentinel into space that will carry yeast cells there and this will help the science experts to learn more about off-planet radiation. Moreover, this is the first time in the last 50 years when NASA send living things to space.

A new royal wedding will take place this year

Many royal weddings took place in the last decade and they were really appreciated by people. For example, prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, got married in 2011. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their wedding in 2018 and even their cousin, Princess Eugenie, got married in 2018 as well.

But in 2020 will happen another wedding that will spread happiness among citizens and we talk about Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, but we don’t know exactly the date. 

Grocery labels will be different this year

This year you will see on different products new labels. U.S. Department of Agriculture says that food that contains genetically modified organisms, also known as GMOs should be written on the product labels.

According to Popular Science, “somewhat confusingly, they won’t say ‘GMO.’ The proposed labels use the terms ‘BE’ and ‘bioengineered’ instead to avoid the contentious connotations that GMO carries.” So, try to pay more attention to what you eat!

There will be a total solar eclipse

A stunning natural phenomenon will take place in mid-December this year and all you have to do is to have a pair of solar eclipse gasses to capture the moment.
