‘When I found out that I was pregnant, I wasn’t too happy because I have had children but they passed away and it was very painful,’ says Nokuthula, 27, who lives in a rural village in South Africa, near the border with Swaziland. In September 2013, she gave birth to a son, Knowledge, who died the following year. This is the fourth of her children who hasn’t survived a third birthday.
