This Is How Famous Travel Pics Really Fooled You

In the internet era, the first thing that makes us want to travel to a new place is that amazing photo that went viral. The skies, the city lights, the impressive scenery – all of that makes us want to reach the end of the world in no time.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but most of those photos are pretty far from what their actual location looks like. And travel photographer Peter Stewart revealed the process to us.

Here, you can see the secret behind some of the most amazing travel photos we’ve seen online lately.

“Many of my architectural and cityscape images feature the use of bracketed multiple exposures, which allow me to retain highlight detail in things like window lights and neon signs when shooting at night, or shadow detail in underexposed areas of the frame I want to call attention to.”

“The majority of my editing is though Photoshop, with the process starting in Adobe CameraRAW. I’ll take each of my bracketed exposures and make my initial adjustments there to things like color temperature, saturation, highlight/shadow detail and perspective correction.”

Apparently, Stewart’s travel photography style and editing is extremely controversial! Many wonder whether so much editing is good when it comes to photographing landscapes and reproducing places that are rather beautiful anyway.
