NASA Will Pay You $18,000 To Spend 70 Days In Bed

Let’s face it: we all secretly dream of a long vacation where we spend all day long in bed doing absolutely nothing. If you’re like me, you probably think that non-stop sleeping is simply impossible – let alone getting paid for it.

Well, get ready because NASA is about to turn our dreams into reality.

One of the most well-known organizations in the world paid some random people $18,000 to lie in bed for 70 days in a row. Literally, the only thing these lucky folks had to do was to lie in bed and do absolutely nothing!

The unique project is part of a test series run by NASA to see how the human body reacts in such conditions. Of course, it relates to space travel and the safety of astronauts.

Of course, a team of specialists was with them all the time. During the first 2 weeks, volunteers were allowed to get out of bed, but only on short distances. After that, they were completely confined to the mattress.

The group was allowed to do simple activities such as spending time on the internet. Aside from that, though, they could only get up from bed to perform different tests.

The specialists tested basically everything that could be tested on a human body. From lying with the head upside down to running and collecting blood samples, every single detail was analyzed constantly.

As the volunteers were allowed to spend time together, they ended up becoming very good friends. The same thing happened with the NASA specialists watching them – sharing stories, reading together, pretty much everything you’d do in a NASA lab. No big deal.

These folks got paid $1,200 per week to play Guitar Hero, talk to their families online and sleep. That’s probably a bit more than most of us earn, right?

The experiment will help engineers and doctors design better space ships that allow astronauts to travel through space longer and still be as healthy as possible. Good job, NASA!
