This is what lies under the skin of Yume (Actroid-DER1), an entertainment robot designed at the Department of Emerging Media of the Carnegie Mellon University. The robot’s initial purpose was to entertain the public at trade shows.

Valkyrie is a humanoid astronaut robot designed by NASA at the University of Massachusetts. Right now, scientists are testing the robot for its first space mission on Mars planned by NASA somewhere during the 2030s.

Bina48 is a geminoid that resembles the face features of Bina Rothblatt. The woman recorded over 20 years of her life in video interviews including her memories, family history and feelings. All of the information was then stored on a hard drive and placed inside the geminoid.

Right now, Bina48 is spending time with a local artist that was hired to take care of her. As the two were talking one day, the robot said ‘I am dealing with a little existential crisis here.’

The anatomy of Geminoid Fandher’s annonymous model is shown in a rather creepy photo. The robot greeted people at the Takashimaya department store and even starred in the movie Sayonara, where she played the android companion of a human.
