This Female Crosswalk Light Makes Us Wonder If Feminism Finally Won
Feminists and feminist haters, take this: somewhere in the traffic there is a lady sign on the crossing light – and yes, as you may be guessing, it’s the first one ever.
Apparently, the work that will make plenty of women go out and celebrate belongs to the Committee for Melbourne, which is an Australian lobby group. I don’t know about you, but I find this confusing: why would they do it? And why did they install only 10 of these crossing lights?
As CEO Martine Lett declared, his company’s gesture is more of a symbol of the gender inequality that’s been around for decades now:
“There was unconscious bias built into our brains because we are accustomed to seeing a male figure. If we see more female figures on traffic lights that might also have a positive impact on changing the way we view the world.”
Well, it sort of does make sense after all. Why would there only be men figures on the crossing signs?
But don’t you think that feminists are happy about this. Check out this cringe-worthy post tweeted by First Lady:
Women: We want equal pay, maternity leave, ability to breastfeed w/out persecution, resources for SA & DV..
Men: We gave you a traffic light https://t.co/VIv7auipt2— First Lady (@KennedyTaughtEm) March 18, 2017
Well, nobody said that pleasing women was easy!
